Kimberley Campaign takes the stage at annual conference and awards night

May 12, 2025

On Monday, Kimberley Community Legal Services (KCLS) and Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre (MWRC) headed to Perth to participate in a panel discussion on community-led partnerships at WACOSS conference and attend the Community Service Excellence Awards on the collaboration between the organisations that led to the US Without Abuse Campaign.

The panel on the first day of the WACOSS annual conference focussed on meaningful partnerships between Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Community Service Organisations. The success in the US Without Abuse Campaign has been through it being co-designed and shared in its delivery. KCLS walked alongside MWRC to enable an authentic campaign deeply rooted in the community it is speaking to. Through bringing different strengths and making room for one another, the two organisations have been able to create a campaign that has had great reach in the Kimberley community.

In the evening, the US Without Abuse Campaign received a nomination and Special Commendation from the judges at the 2025 Community Services Excellence Awards.

Presented by the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), in partnership with the Department of Communities, Lotterywest, and the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA), the award category celebrated organisations working side by side to deliver meaningful, community-led change.

The team at KCLS and MWRC enjoyed sharing the US Without Abuse Campaign with sector colleagues and look forward to future collaborations to further the message of the campaign into the community.
